Adult students: We've posted the next sessions for Watercolor and for Oil Painting.

• Adult Watercolor with Jeanne McLeish meets 9:00am-11:00am on Wednesdays and will begin on September 19.
• The Painting with Oils class will meet Noon-2:00 pm on Wednesdays and will begin on October 7.

Painting with Oils

Wednesdays from 12:00-2:00 pm. Beginner & Intermediate for Adults. Class meets in 6 week sessions. The next session begins October 7, 2012. A supply list is available at registration. This workshop class is $90 for 6 weeks.

With a series of simple, easy to follow sequential exercises you will learn how to mix oil paint with control to get color that contains the proper value and intensity that you need in your paintings. This what "painting" is essentially: observing a color and then being able to mix paints as needed to relate properly with the other colors in your painting. Emphasis will be on the importance of dominance in shape, value, and color. We will cover various paint applications, brush work, and techniques. This class will give you the foundation you need to get more enjoyment out of future painting classes.

Students are encouraged to paint subjects which appeal to them and to enjoy the company of fellow artists as they develop their own painting style.

Introduction to Watercolor with Jeanne McLeish

Class meets in 6 week sessions. Next session available September 19, 2012. Group One meets Wednesdays from 9:00-11:00 am. Group Two meets Fridays from 5:00-7:00 pm. For ages 16 to adults. A recommended supply list is available. This workshop is $90 for six weeks.

This class covers basic techniques, materials, and terminology. Demonstrations, personal instruction, and group critiques will be used to increase the students understanding of color and design. While this class is designed for students with little or no experience, it would also be helpful to any artists wishing to review and brush up their skills. Students will move from practicing techniques and painting single objects to painting simple still life and landscapes.
